Note Barbara Lucas worked as a children's book editor during the 1960s and 1970s for Harper and Row, Putnam, and Harcourt, Brace, Jovanovich. In 1982, she created Lucas-Evans Books, a book packaging company that paired authors and illustrators together and presented to publishers for consideration
